When we time our downshift correctly and we time our blip correctly rev matching should be very easy. It should never require more than about 10% to 20% throttle on the blip. If you feel like you need more than that than you have mistimed that downshift or blip.
I’m very new to driving manual, about 8 hours in. Despite alot of videos/people telling me rev matching is very easy to do, I can’t seem to do it correctly. The few times I’ve tried to down shift from 3 to 2 or 4 to 3, give it a blip, drop the clutch the car lurches horribly and I have no idea what’s happening.
6/12/2009 · In order to make a completely smooth downshift , all three need to be synced. If the clutch is disengaded (pedal down) and you rev match with the trans in neutral (EDIT: or in gear, doesn’t matter) while downshifting , the transmission will not be effected by the rev – matching attempt (neutral by pedal and shifter – disconnected from everything).
11/21/2003 · Rev – matching is only for high-speed driving when you are either: (1) Doing an accelerating downshift , say dropping from 5th to 3rd on the freeway. You need to rev – match to prevent the car from bucking or slowing down, when you actually want acceleration.
